Crystals on Cement
I was walking out to my little room to have a cigarette the other day, and I noticed that some of the rain water that had come into the garage was starting to freeze and crystallize. I had never seen crystals like this on cement; it was like frost on a window, only the patterns were much bigger. So I grabbed a camera and took some photographs. I included a quarter in one of the photos, to give a sense of proportion.

Seeing water crystals always amazes me. I marvel at nature's ability to produce such beauty.

As you know, Mike, I just love being surprised by the beauty I find in nature, so I really appreciate these wonderful photos. I particularly like the last one with the circular crystals. Amazing!

Nature never ceases to amaze me. It creates such works for art like these crystals.
One of the things that I find fascinating about nature is that it never gives up. A tree will split a giant boulder in two in order to grow. And in the darkest winter nights a flame of life still glows waiting to bloom and be reborn again in spring.
