The Hand That Feeds...
We have a small statue in our backyard that we put sunflower seeds in for the birds and squirrels. This morning as I sat outside I saw a chipmunk stuffing its cheeks full of seed:
In past years my mother has actually trained some of the chipmunks to eat out of her hand. She patiently waits with a peanut in the palm of her hand, and these cute little creatures will run up to her and grab the nut, stuff it in their cheeks, and scurry away.

That is so cute. I love little critters. We feed the squirrels out here with raw peanuts and got a picture of him sticking most of his body into an empty peanut butter jar.
I love the last one best with his cheeks all puffed out. Great shots!!!
I love this little vignettes of your life! I miss you when you don't write so don't be a stranger. Take care and thanks so much for the update!
I love that photo, so sweet. All of nature is in God's hands, and that is what I think when I look at that picture.
I agree with Andrew, I miss your regular postings. Hope all is going well with you!

Hi. I happened to come to your blog by chance and saw your entry today. I love the pic of the hands with the squirrel. I am an avid gardener and never saw anything like this outdoor statue. Might you be able to share where the hands were purchased? I would love to have one for my garden. Thank you. I will remember you you in my prayers it was no mistake I stopped here.

The statue is so cute! I think that I am going to look around to see if I can find something like that and put it out for the little animals that come around my patio...wonder though if Gracie would try to eat the seeds and nuts? I was happy to see a post from you. I hope that things are going good for you........liz
Handsome B Wonderful, that must be a really cute picture of the squirrel and the pb jar. Backyard animals are so fun to watch. Glad you liked the photos!
Andrew, thanks for stopping by! I’m happy you enjoyed the post :)
Lena, well put! I was thinking along the same lines about the pictures—that all of life is supported by the hands of Spirit.
Kelly, or maybe Simon? :)
Grit, thanks for visiting, and thank you for the compliment!
Arianna, I’m happy that you found me! Thank you so much for the prayers. I asked my step-father where he got the statue, and he said that it was from a catalogue, but he can’t remember which one it is. If he gets another one in the mail, I’ll post the information for you. Also, I found that you can get similar statues online if you go to google.com and search for “cupped hands statue bird feeder.”
Liz, I think it would be cute to see Gracie eating out of the hands too... although I bet it would be pretty bad for her, huh? If you’re looking for a statue, check out what I wrote to Arianna. Have a good day!
